What To Remember When Buying Products For Sensitive Skin

Like any normal girl out there, I love to look my best all the time, that’s why I keep several different types and brands of skincare products. However, I don’t just go out there and buy every single thing that’s advertised on TV. I take my skin very seriously so I spend a great amount of time searching for the best product like someone would search for a pearl of great of price (haha!).

I remember this friend of mine who, out of her eagerness to improve her skin’s complexion, rushed
to the mall and bought this beauty cream that’s supposed to give your cheeks a pinkish glow. Instead of getting the kind of glow she’s after, she got rashes and pimples instead. Good thing she quit using the product right away or she might have acquired something worse than a rash or a pimple.

This brings me to what I want to actually share with you today. When it comes to beauty products, you would want to take your time inspecting a certain brand before actually buying it. For goodness’ sake, you’re going to put it in your skin and you don’t even check what’s in there, not sure whether it’s going to destroy your skin or not?!

I know a lot of young women committing this mistake. It’s like checking the manual of your new phone only after you’ve broken it. Anyway, the next time you see a new beauty product that promises you beautiful skin in just 7 days, think 7 times before buying it. To end with, here are some tips you can use when choosing cosmetic products:

1.       Know your skin type
This one’s very crucial. If you know you have sensitive skin, avoid buying products that contain harsh substances such as alcohol, hydroquinone, artificial fragrances, and other preservatives.

2.       Go natural
Look for brands that contain natural or organic ingredients. There are several manufacturers today that produce beauty products containing ingredients such as aloe vera, lemon, and sweet orange. There are also some that contain essential oils like jojoba oil, coconut oil, and sesame oil. All these have been proven safe for sensitive skin.

3.       Avoid comedogenic products
Comedogenic products are those that contain ingredients that are known to cause the outbreak of acne. Sodium chloride, alcohol, algae extract, and lanolin are examples of comedogenic ingredients. While these substances have a certain level of skin benefits, it would be best to avoid them if you have very sensitive or acne prone skin.

If you can keep these things in mind the next time you shop for a new beauty product, you won’t end up damaging your beautiful skin.
