My Home Remedy For Rough and Dark Knees and Elbows

Have you touched or looked at your elbows and knees lately?

Don’t make the same mistake I did when I neglected these parts of my body. I got so caught up with taking care of my face that I forgot that I have other body parts to maintain – like my knees and elbows.

I visited my mom one day and I was wearing my favorite khaki shorts. She asked where I’ve been kneeling when she noticed how dark my knees were. Before I left, we hugged and my elbows touched her arms. She then noticed how rough they were.

Good thing she’s my mom, or else I could have died in embarrassment. Before I left, she gave me some very helpful tips. Oh, did I mention that my mom is the queen of home remedies? She is and I’m going to share with you an effective and affordable trick to smooth out those rough elbows and lighten dark knees.

Step 1: Remove dead skin cells by rubbing your elbows and knees with your own brown sugar scrub. It’s really simple to make. Just combine 1 part or brown sugar to one part of olive oil. It’s best to do this during bath time while your pores are open because of the steam from the warm bath water. After exfoliating, wash the scrub off with water.

Step 2: To lighten the dark areas, make use of the natural bleaching property of lemons. Cut a whole lemon in half and rub them on your knees and elbows. Let your skin absorb the lemon juice for 4 to 6 minutes. If you’re doing this at night, no need to rinse.

Step 3: While your skin is damp from the shower, lather a big dollop of petroleum jelly. Once your elbows and knees are completely covered with it, slip on cotton socks by cutting off the tips. If you have leg warmers, you can use that as well for both your knees and elbows. Keep it on as you sleep. This will help your skin warm up and retain moisture.

Do this every night just before going to bed. Feel and see the difference after a couple of months or so. It worked for me, and I sincerely hope that it works for you too.
